Last Sunday's May Day protests were a mess. (At best, they were confusing.)

Ansel and photographer Alex Garland were on the ground for the whole day. By the time protests fizzled out, nine anti-capitalist protesters were arrested, five Seattle Police officers were injured, and at least four journalists were hurt.

According to The Seattle PI, protesters Wesley Nielsen, 23, and Samuel Krueger, 26, were accused of assaulting Seattle Police officers during the May Day protests last weekend.

More from the PI:

Police say Nielsen, held in King County Jail on $20,000 bail, threw a Molotov cocktail at police near the stadiums at Fourth Avenue South and Seattle Boulevard South. At this intersection, protesters turned to face the police herding them south and threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at cops. One SWAT officer spotted a man later identified as Nielsen throwing a gasoline-filled bottle that exploded near the police line, according to the probable cause.

Krueger was arrested for biting a cop's arm hard enough to break skin and is held on a $15,000 bail. "She reportedly has a history of anarchist protesting, having been sued in 2009 as part of an ambush of a Michigan church, targeted as an anti-gay organization," the PI reported.
