The Seattle Times reports:

Human remains have been found near the site where body parts from a slain Renton nurse were discovered last week in Seattle’s Central District, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Police at the scene would not immediately confirm whether the remains found Friday morning were those of Ingrid Lyne, a 40-year-old nurse who was killed last week. Earlier, parts of her body had been found in a recycle bin not far away.

Police are saying the discovery is likely connected:

And at least one TV reporter has broadcasted video of police looking for human body parts in recycling bins on a neighboring street. I'm not going to link to it.

There's not a lot to say before we have more information to go on. In the meantime, perhaps be thinking about this: There's nothing quite like a single mother allegedly dismembered by a man she had online-dated to reaffirm a very old worldview. That view tells us that the world is very dangerous for women, particularly ones with more body sovereignty than others. It tells us that women are not whole humans anyway. It tells us we are parts: nurse, mother, online dater. It dismembers us, analyzes the remains, and then shames us for being immodest.

Let's remember that a better story doesn't have to do with gawking over remains. The story we should be telling is about how this crime came to be, and the conditions that may have enabled it in the first place.
