Tons of people sent me links over the weekend to three "Consent Is Simple" ads produced by Project Consent—and the general/overwhelming consensus seemed to be, "These PSAs great, Dan, you need to promote them!" I dutifully watched all three PSAs and didn't help promote them because I didn't think they were really that great. But if virality is any measure of quality... mine would seem to be the minority opinion. These PSAs have racked up millions of views and likes, so lots of other people thought they were great. My concerns/objections/observations...

1. Is consent is something you ask for after you attempt to touch someone with your penis? Or after you grab someone's boob? Or after you try to put it in her butt? Perhaps the intended takeaway is meatn to be, "Ask first!", but the actual takeaway is, "Go for it and if she objects—if she says "no" after you touch her with your penis or grab her boob—pull your penis away from her butt/labia, or release her boob, and you've pretty much nailed this consent thing!" Yeah, no.

2. Sometimes women need to ask men for their consent.

3. Sometimes people of the same sex have to ask each other for consent.

The other two videos are after the jump.
