Nice location, nifty decor

Stiff drinks and friendly staff. The decor is self consciously dive-y but surprisingly light hearted. I like the seating and the video games. Definitely thumbs up.

reopening?

Does anybody know anything about a reopen for pony at a new venue? I need some pony in my life! I miss that place so much I would go every night if they reopened somewhere. The best music in the city. None of this bullshit you hear at everyother shithole on the hill

fun random once in awhile place. almost like a "crusin'" museum without the slings. interesting to see a bar idolizing and era and behavior which spawned one of the most deadly diseases to ever strike a minority group. Here's hoping everyone--gay or straight--that hooks up at at the new place wraps it up!

not a gay bar!

this is not a gay bar, despite the sign on the door. as a mixed bar it is a lot of fun. but it is still not a gay bar!

Glad it's back.

Just found out about the re-opening at the new location and so stopped by after work on a Monday. It has the same fun look (plenty of wall "art" to keep your attention if you get bored). When we were there, there were only two other people in the bar, but I bet the word needs to get around that it's open. Bartender was friendly and the drinks were good.

" At Least I don't pretend to be a woman every day "

Isn't it difficult enough to keep dissention out of the ranks of the LGBT community? I am a Transsexual and an artist. I was simply asking if Marcus was there. I was told by this bartender, Jake or Jack, what his personal thoughts of what Marcus might think about my filming there. He said " We have a bar to run, I think the answer is no ". Well I hadn't asked him his psychic thoughts on the matter but, trying to be nice, I explained who I was and that I had filmed there before. His reply was "yes youv'e introduced yourself like a bunch of times to me ". I could of apologized for the fact he had a forgetable face but didn't. I did tell him I did not appreciate his unprofessional attitude. He told me he did not like my self centered bitchiness. He said " At least I don't have to pretend to be a woman every day ". This is very hyppocrytical behavior since he is gay and obviously clueless. I didn't talk about his sexuality. I called Marcus and have never heard a word back. Marcus has done drag as Ursala Android and I am dissapointed he didn't even return my calls. Are people so scarred by having been picked on that they have to do it to feel good about themselves ? In hindsight, I think my closet would be bigger than the pony anyway. Given it being so small it is possible to have a good time Ian Carter has been nothing but friendly and really nice and I have really appreciated that. Just stay away from a couple of the bartenders. Oh by the way the one I had a problem with looks like a model, for playdough that is. I think the LGBT community should not stand behind a bar that condones discriminatory actions against their own

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Pony is:

1) covered in penises. Wall to wall, there's dick everywhere. More inches per square inch than anyplace else.

2) very, very gay. There's two restrooms, one marked "Men" and one marked "boys". The difference is that in the men's room, the door does not lock, and the light is a blacklight. There's porn on the walls, on the tables, on the ceiling.

3) caught in a time warp. The DJ seems to play mostly 70's and 80's music from the whole post-punk/new wave era. The porn is all 70's porn. The bartenders wear these teeny tiny tennis shorts and ultra-tight t-shirts, circa 1976.

4) drunk. The drinks are cheap, plentiful, tasty, and potent. Yes, the bartender is trying to get you drunk.

5) filled with men. Every age, shape, color, and kind. This is a bar for gay men, and it does not pretend to be anything else. Why should it? Shouldn't we queers have a little place all our own? A place where gay men can be gay men, and not have to pretend to be anything else?

6) Fun. Go to Pony. Get drunk. Get laid. Get a t-shirt.

hipsters try too hard

if you think that an air hockey table, trashy porno mag images or dressing in skin tight jeans and a wax mustache makes you uniquely quirky, irreverent and just too damn cool than you will fit right in here. But if you prefer real people behaving as if they don't have to overcompensate for being essentially dumb and dull then go somewhere else.

Disappointing

After hearing that this was one of the cooler bars on Capitol Hill my friends and I decided to give it a try.
What we found was a ridiculously tiny room, a disgustingly filthy bathroom (I mean dirty and smelly enough to make me gag) and very rude staff who spent most of their time talking to their friends while we waited 10-15 minutes to get an overpriced drink.
Also it was not very busy, just a few depressed looking stinky drunks...really depressing.

pony really does suck

This place could be fun, but unfortunately, it is staffed by a bunch of REALLY IMMATURE jerks who, obviously, are very hurt and wounded people. More than one person has remarked this on various rating sites. Do the Seattle gay community a favor and don't patronize this group of self-haters. "Pony sucks" ... and NOT in the good way!
