Of the 16 extant species currently classified in the genus Mustela, ten have "weasel" in their common name. Among those that do not are the stoat or ermine, the two species of mink, and the polecats or ferrets.

I have to say, this ermine (or short-tailed weasel) edges out the least weasel above in cuteness.

Btw, I first saw depictions of a weasel in the cartoon US Acres (part of Garfield & Friends). I had always assumed they were grossly distorted images of a weasel, like Odie is a grossly distorted dog. But no, as I later found out, weasels really are that oddly shaped.
