Seattle(ites) handle(s) snow badly. No one made transplants come here -- people from the Midwest and Northeast chose to come here and choose to stay here. And finally, this situation is starting to suck.

All those things are true.

We transplants should quit bitching. The city should try harder, even if it's just communicating better about what's going on with roads and transit. And you natives should just accept that you don't know what to do with snowy roads and sidewalks because you don't see them that often.

In January of 1880 Seattle got 6 FEET of snow in five days...

Local "fringe groups" blamed it on "climate change" caused by the "white man" angering the "great sky God".

Actually, the best cars I had in snow were my 1989 Ford Escort and my current 2002 Saturn. Front wheel drive and a light chassis (and of course a little practice in driving in rotten conditions) are the best course of action. Driving through Colorado on I-70 in snowstorms was always the best time to see SUVs in the ditch.

Did I mention good home made chili, just made a giant batch - GREAT - shhhh... canned beans, lean ground beef from the freezer, three or four cans of tomato product, two onions, red pepper flakes from pizza boxes, more chili sauce from the dollar bottle - just wonderful looking at snow, bundled in a blanket, looking forward to more --- hot sex --- pray the electricity stays on ... that matters
