I'm so sick of this "Black Friday" tradition.
It's shameful.
I'm no holy roller, but what started out as a Christian holiday has turned into a violent treasure hunt for thugs and selfish jerks.
The problem is, if big-box store "A" discontinues this appalling practice, big-box store "B" will refuse because they want all the customers.
There's no turning back.
We're stuck with this asinine materialistic barbaric bullshit.
Two guys in a Toys-R-Us shot each other because their wives were fighting over items. A Wal-mart employee got trampled.
The Taliban will be using this footage and these stories as recruiting films!

I think it's insane to get up that early just to save a little bit of money! The poor employees have their Thanksgiving holiday wrecked because they have to work so early. I could care less if I spend a little more! The increase in spending will help our economy out more anyways!

I hit Game Crazy, Fred Meyer, and Sam's Club. None of them were dangerous.

man, stop harshing on the wii.

Tetris Party ($12, WiiWare) is a great multiplayer game, especially with the 6-person online mode. Animal Crossing: City Folk is fun for AC fans who don't mind more of the same. The WiiSpeak portion of it works well. It's a cute and addicting and relaxing game. It's nice that you mentioned Boom Blox, but even at more than $20 it's a fun game. Wii Fit does not suck. Yes, it's a bit too simple, but it's far from sucking.

Yeah, the Wii doesn't have coolness like FO3, Little Big Planet, etc., and some of the games are very embarassing, but a "dud"? C'mon.

Why no hand-held mentions? Seems like the Korg DS-10 would be perfect for Stranger hipsters.

Seriously. STAY HOME on Black Friday. The huge crush of shoppers makes it not only harder to get stuff, it also makes it dangerous. There is nothing you can buy on that day that you can't get more easily and safely on a less crunched day. The same goes for Christmas Eve. Stay home. Any day between Black Friday and Christmas Eve is a much better day to shop than either of those days.

Castle Crashers is super fun.

Left 4 Dead scares me too much; I have zombie apocolypse dreams bi-monthly and I just can't handle it. My husband likes it a lot, though.

@4: Two great games don't make a system, though that reminds me that deBlob is also a dandy for the Wii from this year. But '08 was really, really boring for the Wii--even the two games I suggested are technically "greatest hits" editions of their franchises. Fun as hell, but nothing new.

I look forward to the Wii MotionPlus add-on next year, but nobody other than Nintendo will have games for it for a while, which renders the thing slightly moot.

I ordered Call Of Duty: World At War and NHL09 for the 360 today. I am going to pick up used copies of Marvel Alliance and Tiger Woods 09 for Xmas. That should hold me for awhile.
