Sure, I guess the sound could have been better. But then again the sound from more expensive setups at places like Showbox SODO or El Corazon or (insert venue here) 'could be better'. They ran out of beer with 45 or so minutes to go then promptly brought in enough PBR to keep people happy. All in all - everyone I met was super nice, the theme/location was unique, costumes were awesome, the dj's kept people dancing, and it was for a good cause...not much more I could ask for.

That party ruled! Thanks to everyone who donated their time and resources! Including but not limited to their DJ skillz, sound equipment, candelabras, folding tables from church, lighting, table linens, cupcakes, pizzas, coffee, booze, beer, foodz and looooove! The most supreme and mystical event raised a ton of money to keep the emerging artists at Crawl Space afloat!

Oh crap. I hate Eric Grandy cameos. I can't watch.

Also, the DJs were great, the sound system was appropriately scrappy (dude, the whole place was stacked to the ceiling with burlap sacks of coffee; the DJ's laptop sat atop just such a sack), and it was plenty loud on the dance floor.

@1, oh you can be! The vast majority of the people at the benefit paid $25 at the door and got free drinks and snacks all night. I don't know what you spend on food and drinks on a Saturday night, but there's no doubt it was one of the best deals on Capitol Hill, all for a worthy cause.

As far as being arty and beautiful, why, you can be that too, in 3 easy steps:

1) Stop devoting energy into being snarky and cynical.

2) Turn it inward and use it to change things you don't like about yourself.

3) Start radiating happiness and (humble) satisfaction.

OK, so it's not always easy. But the good news is it's not easy for anyone. It takes hard work and motivation to become genuinely interesting, and it's a lifelong process you never get to give up on.

Those people wished the party sounded this good. This song is better than anything the DJs played. Next time spend some money and get a real DJ and a sound system that doesn't sound like it was ripped from an old Chevy Nova.

And what's with running out of booze and only having Beer and Kaluha on hand. Boo.
