DESC helps the hardest to serve in our communities. people who have been through things i could never imagine and who have been thrown away by our society. they are a critical organization in Seattle and deserve our support.

The program is fine and by no means the perfect answer to these people's problems. Seattle is lucky and better off for having it. I believe it was honored for its achievements not so long ago.

826 Seattle is having a fundraiser tonight as well, one that I am a part of: http://826seattle.org/mustacheathon2008 ... It's the Mustache Rock benefit concert, with Say Hi and a bunch of other bands. The money goes to helping me and the other tutors I work with continue to provide free tutoring, mentoring, and writing help for Seattle-area kids. Brendan Kiley did this last year, you may recall.

DESC is a hard-working and thoughtful organization. Many of my acquaintances work there is some capacity and they are wonderful, self-less (and fun) people. DESC serves our community well. They deserve the support.
