Oh, and I second what @2 said.

Oh, and @3 needs their brain rewired. Victoria, BC has an excellent sidewalk culture. If you ever leave your Capitol Hill apartment again, you should go check it out. As a matter of fact, you should stay there.

I bet that the American History Museum will get a lot of new visitors anyway, now that Stephen Colbert's portrait is there. I went to see it at the National Portrait Gallery when it was there last year, and there was a huge line of people waiting to see it.

Chris Tucker. The Fifth Element. Enough said.
And DeNiro at least had the decency to look kind of embarrassed to be there...
Take a good look at the top-of-the-fold picture on the front page of today's P-I. It's what the waterfront would look like with the tunnel view. I hate to say it, but this scenario looks like a candidate for that web site with the list of the world's test worst public squares, y'know the list that the old Occidental Square in Pioneer Square was on.

There's just all that space--what's the surface, brick?--halfway taken up with those umbrella tables. Yeah, like that's going to work out?! Like we're sunny San Diego or something.

Frankly, I'm almost inclined to say that a surface boulevard looks better than this. It sure doesn't look any worse. And for goodness sake, if this lousy "park" is what you get for the extra $2.6 billion, it's just not worth it. (Hell, you could use that extra $2.6 billion to build a mass transit system for West Seattle to Ballard and at least give the west side of Seattle some extra mobility for the mobility they'd be losing.)

P.S. Regarding something Jen did mention... I must admit "Chinese Democracy" is a great title.
