Shouldn't we all be funding the transition, as taxpayers? I find this all very confusing.

In the past, efforts like these have often been very secretive and funded by the D.C. lobbying and corporate community.

But, like in the campaign, we've decided to do things differently.

For the first time, transition efforts won't be financed with donations from Washington lobbyists and PACs -- which means we'll need to keep asking for your help. Your generosity during the campaign helped get us here, but building a more transparent and open government means continuing to rely on a broader group of people to do this the right way.

Today, Plouffe asks if we can part with $25 (more solicitations are on their way) in their effort to subvert traditional fundraising channels (read special interests).

A lot of people/companies/organizations are panhandling including Detroit's Big Three.

It feels like a new day in America.

So, you can unsubscribe from Obama's outreach network as easily as you can avert your eyes and walk right past the indigents on the sidewalk.

I think to be truly engaged with our community and our country demands that we keep our eyes and ears wide open and that we stoke compassion in our minds and hearts.

If we can't really afford $25 this week, just delete the email and move forward. I'd suggest, though, that we don't close down the conversation, stuff cotton in our ears, narrow our vision and stay indoors from here on out.

I'm sure there'll be many books and studies done on his campaign and how it probably correlates to a successful start-up company taking out the big dogs in such a short time (aka Google vs MS and Yahoo)
