It's time to quit bitching and finger pointing and scapegoating and time to get to work raising money and more importantly, raising public awareness to get the legislation passed in the future.

And scream all you want at corporate institutions (I'm including churches here) and public figures; they deserve what they get but I don't think threatening people on the individual level is very productive. Harassing middle aged waitressess or threatening to disown your Uncle Pete or boycotting a local business because one employee voted for Prop 8 or intimidating anyone because they have differing opinions on this matter isn't going to win any converts to the cause. It just pisses a lot of people off so they won't listen to anything you have to say.

And, I'm a happy and proud gay man but I refuse to hate everyone who voted for Prop 8; the haters and the bigots, sure; they can rot in hell, but if you think everyone who voted for Prop 8 is a hater and a bigot, then you're a moron. Tens of thousands who voted for it have gay friends and relatives they love and cherish but it's possible to love and respect a gay man or lesbian woman and still have issues with the concept of gay marriage. I think a lot of people have lost sight that the fucking CONCEPT of gay marriage on any sort of sizable scale is less than 40 years old. I'm not going to hate on people who are still grappling with coming to terms with it. Considering it's taken society a couple millenia to get rid of slavery and it's only been 40 years for African-Americans to have begun to achieve much in the line of equality, I'm not going to stamp my feet in frustration and have a hissy fit because of one political setback.

The battle will go on but not until a lot of people realize they need to learn that successful battles require patience and discipline and endurance and the ability to know who to shoot at, and when...

How fucking many times have we had to listen to James Dobson, just to cite one glaringly obvious example, whine in a press conference that some for-profit corporation has trampled on the sensibilities of good, God-fearing Christians, whenever they do something so heinous as enact workplace domestic-partnership benefits or what-not, at which point he calls on those same GG-FC's to engage in a nation-wide boycott of said company?

But of course, now that churches, along with their own corporate subsidiaries, have become the objects of similar boycott actions, SUDDENLY such tactics are deemed "unfair"?

Bull-fucking-shit, is what I say. "Live by the boycott, die by the boycott". Let them whine all they want as they watch in dismay as their money-funneling businesses take hit after hit from a progressive public no longer inclined to cater to their hypocritical caterwauling.

The sooner some of these fucktards get the message that they can no longer get away with advancing their religio-fascist political agenda, while at the same time hiding behind the cassocks or magic underwear or whatever of their religious exemptions, the better.
