      <![CDATA[Hee hee! "Owner of Westlake Mall Bankrupt: Which means nothing." Means nothing to the credulous P-I, maybe. Cross reference that to the NYT article pointing out that corporations entering bankruptcy are starting to choose to liquidate rather than reorganize, because for the first time in modern history customary sources of liquidity to stay afloat during reorganization are all dried up.  Banks, hedge funds, take your pick.<br />
<br />
It's hitting hardest in retail, first with the anchor tenants malls need to survive, then with the mall owners as well. Odds of GGP survival are getting slimmer every day as consumer spending and deflation combine to make retail loans ever more risky.
