After years of politely tolerating the Rev. Phelps clan and the ex-gay recruitment tactics on my home turf, I think that they can deal with my pissed off faggoty ass in their faces for once. 1. Maggie's reading from the same scare the straights playbook all of the preachers are reading from...and doing so in a mediocre fashion.

2. An intellectually honest and productive debate about this subject will never be accomplished in a 5-20 minute TV debate. Can't we nationalize the news media already (BBC style)? They're one of the few entities that the government really needs to flex their muscles...oh shit, a 1984 moment...Scratch #2

What I'm trying to say with little elequence is that the biggest failing of market-driven news television is that it is subject to similar production values and advertisement scheduling as...2.5 men. This allows each side of the coin to make arguments that lack detail or substantiation without real challenge. Partisans end up talking over each other as a tactic for squelching the other's argument or because they feel a need to do there job as best they can in a fraction of the time they need.

So to the commentators I ask, how do we rectify this? One of the strengths of early America (and Greece) was the "literate" contribution to decision-making. Alot of folks can separate transparent demagoguery from forming their opinions, but the majority of folks cannot; they need something more than a soundbite to guide their decision-making process. How do we steer folks away from Fox and CNN to NPR? Is NPR the best we can do? Is it too late, with all of the seemingly large problems in this nation, to convey unmitigated information to folks who do not have 1-3 hours a day to burn on absorbing the same story from a variety of media and deciding what's real and what's crap?

I have no idea how he was that patient, I would have easily called her a cunt after no more than 30 seconds, and I'm not even gay. She's a total disgrace, and so is everyone that shares her view on marriage.

ESPN's talking heads program "Around the Horn" gives its host a mute button to shut up anybody who can't do it themselves.

I would love to see CNN incorporate a mute button.

The point is I'm not inclined to part with my money cause I'm a greedy-greedy douche that habitually does nothing about the larger problems surrounding him. That being said, bigots like this Gallagher character manage to get me angry enough to want to do something about it (no small feat). I'm looking to SLOG for suggestions on what organization is most likely to force Gallagher et all to choke on their hatred and be forced to swallow gay marriage through popular vote or legal action.
