I'd love to take a local paper, but they're both crap.

Even after you wade through the recycled AP stories and the wads of advertising, the local writing is barely worth reading. The Stranger manages to produce relevant, useful and interesting writing about bike trails, housing density and historic building preservation. Even the minutiae of City Hall politics is somehow rendered readable in The Stranger but not in the Times or the PI.

Seriously Times and PI people. If you don't want to lay people off, try producing a paper that's worth reading.

FSM help us, that is so true.

My distaste for the Times turned into serious loathing after their despicable 2006 election endorsements, which were largely a total insult to their readers and anyone else who values logic and intellectual integrity. And let's not even get into the way both papers smeared Chris Gregoire and Darcy Burner on a daily basis. I won't buy their papers or click on their websites.

We get far better reporting from West Seattle Blog and Horse's Ass than the Times or the PI, which both seem to have contempt for their Seattle readers. Fuck 'em.

Sound Transit: Seattle Times endorses "no," KC votes "yes" 78.65%
Seattle Parks: Seattle Times endorses "no," Seattle votes "yes" 58.65%

Worst of all, I'll go ahead and blame the Seattle Times editorial board for endorsing Reichert for being "not liberal," and causing Darcy Burner to lose by 2% in King County.

Unfortunately, none of the editorial board is the list. It's always the talented, hard-working, valuable, innocent workers who pay for management's mistakes. I think continuing to take conservative editorial positions in one of the most liberal cities in the world certainly qualifies as a big mistake. There's a reason most of us here get much of our local news from Slog and other alternative sources now. http://seattletimescompany.com/editorial…
