Been their three or four times in the past year and I've always been happy. Solid Old-Fashioneds, tasty house cocktails, and a great atmosphere. I enjoy the artwork--the two "orange girls" are still up, and I always laugh at the scuba diver in the shower.

One of the best nights I has was during the heavy snow in Dec 08 when we passed the time before walking back in about 12 inches a fresh snowfall through empty streets.

They had to bounce a gal that was a little to wasted on something other than alcohol--she kept falling asleep at the bar. But they seemed to handle the situation well.
As with any bar in the Capitol Hill area, the Hideout seems to be suffering from the fraternization of Friday nights, but it doesn't seem to be as bad as most establishments. If you go on an off night, it is relaxed, great service, delicious drinks and interesting conversation. Every bar/bartender suffers on Friday/Saturday nights.

the hideout used to be my favorite bar in the city, but lately it's been overrun by idiots. understandably, the formerly chill bartenders are starting to act like pricks. so considering those two facts, its not fun to hangout in anymore. sadness . . .

If you blink then you will miss it's very modest entrance. The interior is dark and cozy. The walls are covered salon-style with some of Seattle's greatest working artists. Indeed, the hideout is an art enclave operated by the same folks that brought you local art stalwarts Vital 5. The cocktails are delicious but pricey. As a result, get there early for happy hour. Stay late because the free jukebox gets loaded up quickly with great music. Keep your ears peeled for special live gigs by the likes of Wally Shoup and other musical beyonders.
