For what it's worth, I've met Will, too, and I agree 100% with your assessments of him. I would choose a repeat of my single in-person experience with you a thousand times before considering a repeat of even ten seconds of any of my unfortunately many in-person experiences with Will. But my agreement with you, and my having met you and enjoyed your company, doesn't alter my assessment of your conduct here. Yeesh, come on.

What have you ever done to me, Fnarf? Nothing. But what you've done to your public persona here is pretty ugly. You clearly can be a contributor of great merit, but you're not our pope, and nobody owes you agreement. Nobody, with the possible exception of you, needs to be saved from Will's online presence. I was once asked if either you or Will could exist without the other, and my sad answer was that I'm not sure. That really blows. I wish I had remembered Questionland, because that place was pretty excellent proof that you're almost unimaginably better without Will around, but Questionland is gone and Slog is still around.

That said, I expect it to be successful. Within half a year, I expect that Microsoft and Apple will begin making their own versions, which possibly will be better or offer new features. Competition will eventually drive the price down, and once it hits around 100 dollars per pair, they will be as ubiquitous as tablets and smart phones. Design will become important, with an emphasis on making them smaller and lighter.

Applications secondary to porn will include a better ability to find information about people. WA State Patrol already operates a database of criminal records online, which anyone can access called WATCH (https://fortress.wa.gov/wsp/watch/). Imagine if WA State patrol were to use facial recognition software, allowing users to look at someone using Glass and submit their image to WATCH, searching for their record this way instead of by name. This would eliminate the problem of people using aliases. Benefactors would include employers, patrons at singles bars, and security personnel. If, using Glass, I search for your records by your facial image and discover that you have a history of domestic violence, I might choose to leave the bar rather than approach you and introduce myself. It could also enhance background checks for weapons purchases.

So there are some positive applications as well as the standard use of the internet.

Once Google has its own brick and mortar storefronts, they will be ready to take on Apple for reals. They have their own line of hardware, their own online distribution for media, etc... All they need are storefronts to stack up their assets vs. Apple.

As they position themselves as THE tech thought leader, they will also make their opposition to Facebook (with Google+) and Microsoft (Google Drive) more credible.

Google is taking over everything. But there's always the possibility that Amazon, Apple, or Facebook will take over everything first. Microsoft has already lost its chance, I think.

Isn't making shitloads of money enough? Why do these companies all aspire to monopoly?

You see, kids, Will once proposed building a bunch of 100-story towers "like they have in Vancouver" in the mud slopes of Capitol Hill, and then defended this "idea" vociferously while a parade of people pointed out the dozens of ways in which it was stupid (starting with the fact that Vancouver has no 100-story buildings).

The pinnacle of that discussion came when he cited in his defense the book "Defensible Space" by then-HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros. This defense was complicated by the fact that the book argues the exact opposite of his position, to which he replied that he "meant the Canadian edition". Because, you know, lots of authors have Canadian editions of their books that argue the exact opposite of their US one.

Needless to say, there is no Canadian edition, as verified in the catalog of the National Library of Canada, an organization that Will, a Canadian, has never heard of.

You see, Will, it's not just that you're a compulsive liar; it's that you are hopelessly incompetent at it.
