Jeff Coopers 4 rules as I stated in post #19, I think these rules should be common knowledge for anyone who might possibly ever come in contact with a firearm. I think we are on the same page about public school teachers, most are absolutely worthless. Also most don't adhere to a personal philosophy that would be in agreement with carrying a defensive firearm. I believe that being armed should be voluntary, I do not think being armed should be compulsory, I do not believe that a government or society should be able to MAKE an individual do anything.

But thinking back to I can think of one teacher who would carry (and probably did), he was my physics teacher, and two that might, my auto and welding teachers. All of them were educated people with masters degrees who regularly taught students how to use dangerous equipment.

Believe me, as a gun owner I know that guns are fucking dangerous and need to be treated with the utmost respect. My other hobbies include alpine climbing and backcountry skiing which are also seriously fucking dangerous, in all my pursuits I take steps to minimize risk. But in the end I guess I value liberty over safety as I am not one to be content laying in bed and watching TV.

As for my vision of America, I want to see free people, confident in their own decisions being successful in life.

I don't know about you but my High School had slightly over 3000 students in it. There was at least one "riot" (a relative term given that most involved a handful of actual fights and mostly a lot of confused pushing and shoving) per year.

You add an armed staff of, given what your arguing in favor of I'll call it 100, 100 guns just waiting for some adrenaline pumped up individual to snatch up.....

As for the armed teachers question it is the same reason that I am armed, when seconds count the police are minutes away. Schools are chosen by these socially defective spree shooting maniacs specifically because they are "gun free zones" meaning the shooter is choosing a soft target with little chance of resistance. Most spree killers stop when met with armed resistance. A properly trained teacher armed with a weapon properly retained in an appropriate holster does a lot more to thwart a shooter than an unarmed teacher. When faced with an attacker having a gun beats not having a gun, is it that hard to understand?

Sorry forgot to add my gun safety message to my post.

Jeff Cooper's four rules of firearms safety:

1. All firearms are always loaded.

2. Never let the muzzle of a firearm point at anything you are not willing to destroy.

3. Keep your finger off the trigger unless your sights are on the target.

4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

But to reduce gun violence maybe they could start by arresting criminals, you know like the kid that got 9 months for beating Tuba Man to death, then got released so he could go shoot a man to death at munch bar.
