I absolutely love the fact that the majority of the comments on this website and many others including the Seattle Times article all have one thing in common, most posts view the crackdown as misguided, gives me hope there are more of us who can rise above the very silly and fearful societal taboos. I have been to the temple and in my 30+ years my visits there were always positive, compassionate, mutually respectful, and classy.

I hope the case against Rainbow, especially on money laundering, falls to pieces.

It's a shame alot of people don't understand what we do, but anyone who has ever been to our temple knows we're human like everyone else.We just wanted to pass on a little knowledge/support as far as loving, caring, respecting and, being ourselves.Which is very important to ones well being. If you were a neighbor of the temple, and were unhappy with its existence, then you get to triumph in the return of your peace and quiet. As a frequent guest, let me be clear: we were the quietest bunch of people you ever saw.

Now, to this ridiculous idea that there were condoms nearby. Total and complete crap. There was NO SEX at the temple. NONE. PERIOD.

But -- let's accept your foolish proposition for a moment. So, in your world, people went there...had sex with people there...showered...used the facilities...then went OUTSIDE to dump condoms.

Truly, a remarkable proposition.

Let me trump your next argument before you try to make it. NO, people weren't having sex OUTSIDE...because, if you are right (and you aren't), they were INSIDE having sex.

The temple was NOT a brothel. I found peace there. And I will miss Harmony and her sisters. Wish I had contact info so I could help....

Unbelievable. I heard Harmony on KUOW and her story shocked me and the parallels to the "hard shove" that will cost a kid from Edmonds his life are too real.

I went into ST with the same pessimism as most in the community. Counseling didn't work and prescriptions were a horrible option. After time I found the change to be unbelievable and I really don't understand it completely myself. But to call it "prostitution" is to call earth a mound of dirt.

Harmony, my wishes and prayers are all yours but you're fighting instincts have been underestimated before. You're amazing and I can never thank you enough for putting yourself out there.

Nor does it include "unreported" crimes which are estimated as much as 25% additionl. Almost 35,000 crimes committed in Seattle in 2008!! I wonder what the solve rate is on these? I'm not against places like ST, but in my opinion trying to divert attention away from the fact that it's, in the end, still a handjob, only serves to damage the cause. Everyone sees through the mumbo jumbo and it only makes it worse, causing people to wonder what's really going on.

If you ever want to make a place like ST legal, you'd have to change the laws and be transparent, come out and say, "Hey, it's only a stupid handjob, and we will prove it, and provide evidence that that is all we do."

I'm glad the girls are safe, and if there's anything we can do help any of them, let us know - I'm sure several will be hurting in this economy, and have kids to feed.

tiktok, remember that the citizens of Seattle voted overwhelmingly to not rob our fair city's strippers of their rights to get close to their customers in dim light. I think most of the people who voted on the strippers' side had a pretty good idea of what sometimes happens in strip clubs. If you word a vote on prostitution right, it will pass.

Didn't someone write about this place in a book a couple years ago? Can't remember the book's name, but it was about the author's sex work at various places locally, sort of a memoir, but a lot more brutally frank than most of the genre. Anyway, there's definitely a chapter that describes a temple with seekers and hand jobs, etc. I agree it's a waste of resources to bust these people, but I find it odd that if they were going to, they didn't do it after that book came out.

Just one more thing. My seeker name is Jack. Not because of what the title of the original article implied. I initially came to the temple, read some introductory material, and decided because of the many Jacks in my life, that I have admired that I would assume that name. Nothing funny, no inuendo intended. Think yoga, breathing, meditation, instruction on physical, and metaphysical methods to accomplish a serene, and meditative state. Enriching, energizing, and uplifting. Of course there was teaching. There was some nudity at times, and it was like being at a public sauna in Europe. Natural, and non threatening. A feeling of mutual respect. I never encountered the tawdry side of life there. I never imagined upselling occured. Maybe I was protected, or off limits for that behaviour, but I think not. I think that this allegation is the result of the yellow side of the spd imagination. Not unlike the headline "Aliens Among Us" I recently saw at the supermarket checkout. Shame upon SPD, and those whose imaginations can not grasp that healthy, spiritual respectful behaviour can occur where their prying eyes can not see.

Actually, under the law in WA state, what the ladies did is prostitution. It doesn't have to be intercourse, a hand job counts. Is it an incredible waste of tax payer money to shut these places down? Of course it is since they regroup and open up in a new location. In April the owner of Avalon by the Lake was arrested for promoting prostitution and a couple of other places have been raided as well. As long as everyone is a legally consenting adult and not being forced to work in an environment they don't want to be in, it's pretty harmless. If you don't like the laws, speak out and work to change the laws. Complaining on a posting board doesn't count. So unless you do something constructive to make a difference, be quiet, you sound ridiculous ranting against the "corrupt" police.
