We need affected states, farmers and insurance companies to file suits to take the profits from those big conglomerates for the lies and the harm they have done and will be done because of their 'science of denial'.

We live in the Western US.

I say again: Beef consumption in Seattle (didn't say the emissions-spewing suburbs) is LOW.

Should we have more fruit and veggies and nuts and unprocessed grains in our diet? Yes.

Are we pretty good on that given our weather/climate? Yes.

Should you stop driving 2 hours to get to work in LA and living in a giant house? Yes.

Livestock (including cows and pigs) are the #1 cause of global warming - greater than all transportation COMBINED. That includes all cars, SUV's, buses, planes, trains, and boats on the planet.

The only thing worse for the planet than beef is free-range beef, especially locally here. Not only do you get the massive amounts of energy use and methane emissions needed to raise cattle, but you add in massive deforestation for grazing land.

Concrete is a minor change (higher carbon impact) that would help, but the big change is literally having more people live closer to where they work (e.g. your cars idea) and living in shared housing (that is well insulated and designed for LEEDS standards).

But building giant buildings for Billionaires that have giant square footage doesn't make it better. Still have to heat/cool the building, even if well designed. And then drive to/from the Eastside, no matter what vehicle used.

Look, in the US, especially in the West, the big changes are Driving and Buildings. We have to start putting coal trains in tunnels instead of cars (less light required , fans can be demand driven, pumps still needed). Get out of the More Lanes Is Better idea mindset.

I don't think there is much than can be done about climate change. Even if Americans could be convinced to give up their SUVs, which they can't, the Chinese and the Indians would keep burning fossil fuels in greater and greater quantities. Whatever is going to happen, is going happen. Personally I'm looking forward to being along for the ride.
