@20 I guess you missed the part where they had badges on, on their belts or on chains around their necks. It was pretty obvious if they could see the guns, you could see the badges. As most officers hostler their arms near their badge for a reason. Unless they choose to wear it around their neck.

But I applaud you for joining in the sensationalism of promoting fear of people who have gunz and, now, plain cloth officers. I'm glad to see Liberals also hard at work to make people distrust their neighbors, just like the GOP.

The restaurant is in Faillinoise therefore the only people that would be carrying firearms would be the police. Meaning the restaurant manager had to know that they were police officers.

Pretty close to the idiocy I would expect from anyone that chooses lives in that state.

I once got lost on a night time bike ride in Portland, and I was incredibly hungry. I stopped at Denny's - the only open food place around. I tried, but could not bring myself to buy any of their food, let alone sit inside the place. Definitely the most repellant food chain in the world.

@19 you do realize these guys were plainclothes, right? That the manager did not know they were police, right? That he apologized and corrected himself when he found out, right?

Or is this just all about how gun rights should totally trump private property rights in all situations?

Yeah! Dennys told them! Do what you're not suppose to do as an officer-- leave your gun in your car. In Michigan, a cop was to have his firearm on him at all times. To respond to emergency situations.

You liberals really showed these crazy gun-nut Public servants they're kind isn't wanted.

Denny's are at quite a few Flying J truck stops, so I'll make a point to grab breakfast there next time I find myself parked at one.

Apropos of nothing, we had a gun nut at the orientation when I signed on with my current company. That's when I discovered that truck drivers basically can't carry guns. Basically, we must comply with all state and local laws and ordinances for everywhere we pick up, deliver and drive through. Which is more or less impossible.

We're also not supposed to carry knives that are weapons, though I do keep a pocket knife handy, plus a kitchen knife for slicing up veggies for snacking on on the highway.

The discussion between the cops and the manager is pretty different between the two articles, but the police chief's remarks are bizarre in both.

I'd put down money that you're right about NRA outrage being manufactured at this moment. Anything to make themselves look the victim right after a shooting massacre.

It's been 15 years or more since I last ate at a Denny's. I don't know what was going on, but the whole place smelled like a deep fryer, and when I left, so did I.

At the time, my tastes were in the process of elevating, which had more to do with my choice never to patronize one again. But any time I was tempted, the memory of the old greasy smell would put me off immediately.
