Georgetown Liquor Company

Georgetown Liquor Co. doesn't actually make booze, but it's a neighborhood favorite for drinks as well as high-minded vegetarian pub grub (creative salads, soups, sandwiches, wild mushroom tamales, etc.). They also have vintage arcade machines (of the standard-upright and cocktail-table varieties) as well as assorted Atari and Nintendo consoles with a mighty collection of accompanying cartridges.

They need more seats!

I'm going to the GLC again. The first time, I was interested by the mention here in the Stranger a few weeks back. That night (Wednesday I believe) was freaking packed! I was alone and that actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise, since all the tables were full and I was able to get the only seat available at the bar. Sitting next to me happened to be some folks, who I found out were the owners of the joint! We chatted a bit and found out that it was Trivia night, but they weren't expecting such a huge crowd, then they stepped out to smoke. I protected their seats when some hungry patrons asked me if anyone was sitting there.

I ended up getting the sandwich that had a French dip (can't remember the name of it). It had field roast (which I had heard alot about from friends) and was really looking forward to it.

Needless to say, the sandwich was fabulous!

So I'm going back tonight, St. Patrick's Day. I don't expect to have an easy time getting seats, since this time, I'm bringing my boyfriend along.

Hope he doesn't mind waiting.

Best pub grub

I admit it, I am addicted to The Baron.
I actually get cravings for this sammich. Vegan "ham" covered in delicious, sweet BBQ sauce, cheese, and greens on a perfectly toasted ciabatta bun. Freaking amazing. Their housemade veggie burger, The Enterprise, is one of the best veggie burgers in town, too. If you catch them on vegan chocolate mousse day, it's a happy meal indeed!

OMG!

First time there and I was bowled over by how good a sandwich could be. I typically eat like a bird, but was able to devour a whole sandwich without any problem. I even went home that same night and tried to recreate the geniusness of the vegetarian tuna sandwich. Of course I didn't come close, but will keep trying. Or I'll just go back to GLC. Run, don't walk!

Darth Reuben...Dude

This place completely rocks, the menu is great. Daily specials are always trying to expand upon an already solid selection by being creative. But bottom line is the food tastes fantastic, and their names are interesting as well. GT best kept secret, and yes meat lovers will like it too.

Do love it.

The GLC is awesome - a great place to go for lunch, or snacks, or whatever - the polenta, the sandwiches, mmmmm... just thinking about it makes me hungry!
