David Schmader

Tim Summers

David Schmader—Stranger associate editor and Last Days columnist—is the author of the solo plays Straight and Letter to Axl, which he’s performed in Seattle and across the US. His latest work, A Short-Term Solution to a Long-Term Problem, was commissioned and produced by Seattle's Richard Hugo House in 2012. In his spare time, he’s the world’s foremost authority on the brilliant horribleness of Paul Verhoeven's Showgirls; he's hosted annotated screenings at US film fests and provided the commentary track for the DVD. His writing has appeared in OUT magazine and at Newsweek.com. Dave has lived in Seattle for more than 20 years; he currently lives on First Hill with his husband Jake and their ridiculous dog.
