Bumbershoot Coverage on Line Out: Bare Butts, Broken Feet, and Battles (the Band)

posted by on September 2 at 1:15 PM

The Stranger's music staff was at Bumbershoot all weekend (along with hundreds of thousands of other people). Here are just some of the highlights currently on Line Out:

-Death Cab for Cutie closes out the weekend.
-Monotonix get shut down after four songs.
-Black Eyes and Neckties slay even though the singer rocks a broken foot.
-Superchunk make Eric Grandy feel like a kid again.
-Dave Segal on Battles, Dan Deacon, Feral Children, and Arthur & Yu.
-Lee "Scratch" Perry and Stone Temple Pilots battle for the crazy crown.
-The Saturday Knights cover the Fleet Foxes.
-These Arms Are Snakes sounded like "a big, bassy fart," and the kids didn't care at all.

Plus a whole lot more! Read all the Bumbershoot coverage here.

And, did you go to Bumbershoot? Did you take pictures? If so, you could win FREE TICKETS to any upcoming Stranger-sponsored event.

I See Your Free Books, Paul Constant, and I Raise You a Pair of Bumbershoot Tickets

posted by on August 7 at 2:37 PM

As announced earlier, the next Slog Happy is August 14 at the fantastic Hideout. Paul Constant sweetened the pot by promising free books for those in attendance who craved some new summer reading material.

It gets even better! We don't have trivia this time, but we will also be giving away one pair of Bumbershoot tickets for any one day of the festival (winner chooses which day). Visit www.thestranger.com/bumbershoot to see the complete schedule where you can also pick only the acts your interested in and print our your own customized version.

See you Thursday!

Bumbershoot

posted by on September 2 at 10:47 AM

Went yesterday... had a great time, loved it. I particularly loved the Mad Max, bicycle-powered theme park rides. Tear out the Fun Forest, Seattle Center, and give the space to the geniuses behind Cyclecide, please.

Caught Schoolyard Heroes at Memorial Stadium--we wanted to see Panic at the Disco, but couldn't hold out until 10 PM (yes, yes: complete pussies). And you know what? If One Reel needs Memorial Stadium to make Bumbershoot possible, we ought to keep Memorial Stadium. Want more green space at Seattle Center? Tear out the Center House and Key Arena and that place where the Seattle Reign used to play. Bumbershoot is just too good, and too important, a cultural event to risk screwing up. We ought to err on the side of not fucking up Bumbershoot and keep Memorial Stadium and lose some of the other crap.

More Bumbershoot coverage over on LineOut.
