At 8 pm tonight, the public is invited to come together at a tree outside the Quintessa Apartments to memorialize Nicole Westbrook, the 21-year-old who was shot there early last Sunday morning.
She had moved to Seattle just three weeks ago to become a chef, and she was studying at the Art Institute of Seattle. Police believe the shooting was random. They are still asking for help in finding suspects (video). Westbrook was in critical condition at Harborview until Wednesday, when she died.
Though Westbrook was not in Seattle long, this memorial is an opportunity for her adopted city to honor her. Anyone in that spirit is welcome, organizers say.
