Now that Same-Sex Marriage Is the Law

Posted by on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 2:29 PM

There's an obvious question for Pastor Joe Fuiten, Pastor Ken Hutcherson, Captain Twink Joseph Backholm, Archbishop Peter J. Sartain and others campaigning to overturn the marriage equality law:

Why are you trying to change the definition of marriage?!?!!

Ask them about Romans 13:1-7 too... here's the text, to help:

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.

6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Why do they oppose the will of the people so much?

I mean, in 2009 they said R-71 was about marriage and that by voting APPROVE you were redefining marriage. Washington voters already redefined marriage and opened the door for LGBT couples.

Now that we've stepped through Fuiten and Backholm want to shoot us like burglars.

The nerve!

I needed a laugh today. Ever since the governor signed the bill, I have just felt really sad knowing our opponents are already moving to take away our rights to form the families we choose. This is just wanted I needed. Thank you!

BTW, you never got the bishop's name right. J. Peter. Not Peter J. (Minor? Yes. Still...)

I'm more interested in how long it will take society to crumble and for the people in "traditional" marriages to abandon them. Six months? A year? Five years?

@10

My mail didn't come today. It might just be because I didn't get anything, but I'm pretty sure it's because society is already collapsing.

@11: Good one. They ("they") really seem to think, or at least argue, that society will LITERALLY start to disintegrate, and all kinds of things completely unrelated to marriage will go off the rails.

Of course, when they see that they are wrong, it won't change their minds.

Also, the DOW closed at a gain of 73 points today. Clearly, we are heading in the right direction here.

Or give them the reverse slippery-slope:

If we ban gay marriage, what's to stop the wackos from demanding we ban straight marriage next?!

Remember, marriage is between a man, his sister wives, his brother's spouse after he dies, his concubines, his mistresses, his slaves, and his wives and daughters.

At least, according to the Bible it is.

Because being a Talibangelican and wanna-be theocrat requires being abjectly ignorant of one's own hypocricy.

Just think of all the florists and wedding photographers who are going to be rounded up, hog-tied and forced to lend their services to gay weddings!

Fuiten thinks he's so fucking cute. "It's an extrapolation argument." (STimes iirc) Wow, what a deep philosopher. "Extrapolation" after humanity has spent thousands of years having such a BALANCED and NUANCED discussion? Tear the rev 666 new assholes already. Wait, was that hostile?
