Currently Hanging

David Lynch's paintings at the Santa Monica gallery Griffin. More images and an interview here. I asked myself, would anyone pay attention to these if they weren't by David Lynch? I think they would. At least some of them. See what you think.

Lynch trained as a painter I believe, before taking up film.

@3: Yep. He went to art school in Philadelphia -- which is where he was when he started Eraserhead.

I'm gleeful at the images...and shocked by the scale. These are very large paintings, in which the painterly skills are writ even larger. I don't know why but I conceived them as miniatures (easier to do?) and when I saw how large they were, I gasped.

Significant works of art.
