Captured: Tukwila police shoot a suspect in the Officer Timothy Brenton killing after he pulled a gun on them. The suspect is in critical condition.

The Procession: Hundreds of police cars snaked through the city on their way to Brenton's KeyArena memorial.

Hurtling Toward Decisive: McGinn jumped further ahead in both of yesterday's ballot drops, and now leads by 1.4 percent (2,384 votes). But no concession from Mallahan.

The Power of Prayer: It probably won't be enough to reject R-71.

More Shooting News: Few answers about Fort Hood gunman; one dead and eight injured after shooting spree in an Orlando office building.

Abortion, Democrats and Cowardice: House Democrats back down, likely will end up with a health care bill amendment that prohibits coverage for elective abortions.

And Guess Who'll Be in D.C. for the Vote: The usual dumbfucks throwing teabags around.

How Unemployed are You? U.S. unemployment rate is at 10.9 percent—over 10 percent for the first time since 1983. But it's kinda really 17.5 percent.

Crying in French: Apparently babies start to learn their parents' language super-early.

Today in Bigoted Douchebags: The battle to release R-71 petition signers continues after the election.

The Swine Flu: The vaccine's on its way to King County, but now the virus will kill your pets!

Your Phone's NOT your only friend! A study says technology doesn't isolate people but expands social contact.

Wearing Out Our Welcome: Many Afghan people have had enough of us Americans.

Kent, Washington: Number one in space elevators!

Microsoft Wins: Microsoft Messenger and the company's other sites led time spent online in September.

Microsoft Loses: But the Xbox 360 is no longer cool with the kids.

Continuing the Looney Tunes with the best one ever:

Reading arguments on news site comment threads about the space elevator is the most mind-numbing thing ever.

You're missing the biggest news which is the house votday carried on C span on the health reform bill. After literally ten thousand comments last year on Obama, it's sad really to see his own base as on this site is so dispirited they don't even want to pay much attention. He's even going to capitol hill ohmygod to actually you know talk to congressmen and stuff, woo hoo!

And chekc this out for brillaint community organizer organizing. I have an e mail off his old e mail list telling me to spend time calling up Jim McDermott! Wow, brilliant targetting! He's certain to be a no vote, right? So here we are on the DAY OF and all 30,000 folks in Seattle on that e mail list should waste their freaking time calling him up. How incredibly lame.

On that abortion thing, methinks Slog is very uninformed, current law says no federal money for abortions and the plan for health care reform has always been to keep to that during this whole debate.

And if you want to blame someone, blame the leader of the team, Obama.

Coming off democratic losses in two states, seeing unemployment hit 10.2 percent the fucking highest since the freaking great depression, coming into the final stage of the health care reform debate, you better call him quick cuz he's a gonna go on a big long Asian tour soon.

That's our community organizer beating the bushes for health care reform.

I hope he starts talking about the "jobs deficit" a million times a week. I'm so sick of the budget deficit capturing all the media framing, why don't we talk about the jobs deficit and how the GOP created it and how the democrats are addressing it?

oh wait, they're not going to, anymore that's what inadequately been done already.

Tough luck, jobless! Ya shouldn't have actually believed in the hope hype I guess. But rest assured he will improve our image in ASIA!

The BEST Looney Tunes was the one called The Three Little Bops. It's the tops, Daddy-O!

Actually, the Democrats WON two states, if you count the Congress. Governors come and go, and had more to do with lame candidates on the Democratic side than any sort of rejection.

Overall, the elections were pretty much a victory for liberalism and progressives. Maine was the only really bad point, but even they loosened regulations on marijuana.

The two shooting sprees seem to be Hate Crimes, as well as the local cop killing. I'm starting to think there are only two kinds of crimes - Hate and Greed.

Regarding Greed: The recent PBS Frontline documentary on Brooksley Born is fascinating. Greenspan, Sommers, Levitt, Rubin and Geithner all had an influential hand in railroading this woman out of implementing stock market regulation 10 years ago. Now, they are "expressing regret."

And you can say all the folksy platitudes you want, #6, but it still doesn't make you look any less dim-witted.

Maybe you need to have smarter people tell you what you think you think.

No. The best Loony Tunes is "Book Revue" from 1941. Daffy Duck imitates Danny Kaye, sings a wild scat song, dances with Little Red Riding Hood, and send the Big Bad Wolf to Hell!
Um, it might be a Merrie Melody, though.

There are conflicting reports of the gunshot wounds suffered by Christopher Monfort, suspect in the murder of Seattle Police Officer Timothy Brenton.

In a comment left in response to a Central Distrcit News post, JM wrote:
Q13 just reported the suspect, who did not fire a weapon, was shot in the back of the head, and in the back.

In response to a seattlecrime.com post, someone claiming to be a neighbor wrote:
Kiro just reported he is in critical condition and his way into emergency surgery. If you say the live coverage shortly after he was shot they flung him onto the streatcher without a backboard and raced off.

WH wrote:
King had a chopper circling - they showed the guy prior to medics. Shot was to torso-abdomen area.

Someone (else?) claiming to be a neighbor wrote:
In the pictures of the suspect both when he was shot and when he arrived at harborview there weren't any bandages on his head. Oddly he also didn't appear to be on oxygen (which would be basic care for a gun shot wound anyplace on his body). The new coverage also showed them literally jerking him up by his legs onto the stretcher - so if he was shot in the belly odd that they didn't backboard him?

Can someone provide a link to the aforementioned video or still images?

Perhaps a year of Obama has taught you to find "victory" where ever you can.
And to consider two kicks in the balls 'pretty much a victory'.

I think I'll live to see this mess go from "the worst financial crisis since the great depression" to "the Second Great Depression".

"Tukwila police shoot a suspect in the Officer Timothy Brenton"

Jonah is making sure to call him an "alleged" suspect.

That would makes sense if the police didn't call him a suspect.

Abortion is a legal and legitimate medical procedure. Dems really know to offend their supporters with this bullshit from the right. R's won't vote for this bill anyway you slice it. Fuck them!

Abortion is indeed a legal and legitimate medical procedure. That doesn't mean taxpayers should pay for them in all cases.

Abortion is legal.
Abortion kills a human.
98.4% of the 845,000 abortions in America this year will be performed for trivial reasons.
The trivial slaughter of 830,000 humans is not legitimate.

Whatever your position on abortion is, it makes incredible financial sense for it to be a covered benefit. Which do you think is less-expensive, paying for an abortion, or providing health care for life?

@17 – OK then, but why stop at abortion? Let’s have a set number of computer randomly selected people report to end-of-life chambers on a daily basis to keep health care costs down.

Raindrop, this bill doesn't stop there. Cigarette smokers will have higher premiums than non-smokers. Drinkers more than non-drinkers, obese people more than skinny people, and on and on.

But women will not have higher premiums than men, even though they're responsible for 85% of the health care costs in this country, because that would be "discrimination," dontcha know.
