Bryan Denson, Stupid Fucking Credulous Hack, Outed As Stupid Fucking Credulous Hack By His Own Stupid Fucking Newspaper

Posted by on Sat, Oct 3, 2009 at 11:23 AM

Portland-based blogger More Hockey Less War pushes Bryan Denson's SFCH onto the homepage of Oregonian.

Journalist, author and pundit Dan Savage had some fun recently with what he calls a “drug war” story in the Oregonian, and gave Oregonian reporter Bryan Denson the honor of “Stupid Fucking Credulous Hack of the Day” not once, but twice in the same week.

I thought that story deserved a link on the front page of OregonLive, and voila!

You gotta love it:

Great job, Dan.

The media bias in covering the drug war reminds me of the media bias in covering plug-in electric vehicles. Every time I see articles that claim the technology is not ready yet, I just cringe. Plug-in electric vehicle technology was ready more than 10 years ago. It's just that Chevron had the patent on the NiMH battery technology and refused to license it to willing manufacturers. But no one wants to publish something critical of big time advertisers (i.e., Oil & car companies).

You know this is so sweet? Because Denson felt compelled to tell Dan in e-mail that he had no idea who he was (clearly to belittle), but I bet now Denson won't forget. In fact, he probably found his ranking on the likability scale.

And I bet his co-workers all know who Dan is now.

You are such a fucking moron, Dan. You speak only in platitudes, and know absolutely fucking NOTHING about journalism or relevant analysis. Does it make you feel like your dick isn't tiny because you have a blog? Does it compensate for that fact that you aren't educated to run even a fucking Taco Bell? Seriously dude, go to school. You are so uneducated it is laughable. And the only reason you think so high of yourself is because you surround yourself with people who suffer from the same affliction.

Are you gonna encourage your kid to be an irrelevant queer with no intelligent capabilities? Or maybe you can give him a job like your broke-ass "Chicago Fan" brother?

@23, Funny thing I learned in my 3rd grade English class you might want to be aware of:

'Ain't' isn't a word.

I don't always agree with Dan's actions or words, but if you're going to try and attack him, don't use 'ain't'. Sorry, but it's just the mark of an uneducated person.

@ 24. Ain't was good enough for Mark Twain when he said; "Faith is believing what you know ain't so." Besides, widespread usage of the word trumps your opinion or the opinion of experts-- thus it is a word.

I'm still trying to find the name of the Texas physicist who when confronted with the fine-tuned universe hypothesis (as evidence for God) said, regarding the cosmological constants of the universe, These numbers ain't for fiddling.

I prefer to maintain a low profile here on Slog, but since you brought up the subject, I'm a PhD, entrepreneur, and Founder/CEO of my own software company. Very few lawyers make more than I do, and given my company's growth rate, in 5 years I'll probably have made an order of magnitude more money than you'll earn in a lifetime as a self loathing parasite.

By any objective measure of intelligence, I'm likely smarter than you.

And my wife, who also has a PhD, is hot.

P.S. Thanks for catching my typo! If you also could proof read this comment for me by the end of business today, that'd be great.

Allegedly earned his (her? its? their?) improvised moniker during a bad hair day last Wednesday when his trollishness was in full force and rampaging through the SLOG commentaries. I'd assume it was due to local meteorology, since we didn't have any major solar flares on which to blame attitude problems.

Early in the month of September I stated my choice to presume that all anonymous comments with snarky siglines come from the same source, even when it appears to argue with itself. Technically, they allegedly are, hence the new nickname fits. It's not entirely true; I do parse via changes in position, differences in humor or notable variances in writing style, but since I give a reference bookmark, it's easy enough to call you all by a common name than to look up your latest ever-changing punchline moniker. Our readers should catch on fairly quickly.

Of course, I reserve the right to tire of it, or to change your nickname for a better one, should one emerge.

Yes, journalism in the Pacific Northwest is just as petty and unprofessional as these posts make it look. Dan Savage has brought the Oregonian down to his level, just as he did with the Seattle papers years ago. He is like toe cancer, spreading slowly from city to city until responsible print journalism is dead. But Sally Kern doesn't have to worry in this case: The Washington Post is a big fat brain tumor that will kill all newspapers years before Dan's murderous lack of professionalism will spread past Eugene. Dan will be on TV or radio by then. He won't care.

Dan Savage: a one man campaign to make the world better for sexual opportunists and hedonists, and worse in every other possible way.

Ah, but then we get to assign an identity to that excruciatingly tedious neurosis (not necessarily an address or social security number, mind you), which allows some to dismiss a given neurotic outburst and others to block one entirely, should they become too much so. The thing is everyone makes a point sometimes, so, in my case, I choose the grains of seasonings I apply to each. Allegedly is difficult to assess since multiple personalities make it up, turning it into a bit of a Zen exercise when he's not just being a total and obvious douchebag.

Anonymous internet users who claim to have gone to Harvard usually didn't go to Harvard. They're like Navy SEALs that way. Except being a Navy SEAL is actually hard, whereas Harvard is just like any liberal arts college once you're in.

Hi Dan,

I kinda like the stuff you write, and have enjoyed your pieces on TAL. However, I should point out that having automated links from reddit that appear on a website is nothing like having the newspaper link to a story. That's not how reddit works. But I guess there's no way for you to know that. Because the internet is hard to understand.
