What are you doing Wednesday, February 3? Do you have a thing? A previous engagement? Were you thinking about maybe just laying low and catching up on a few things? Maybe domestic duties call, or you want to re-commit to your self-care regimen, or you don't feel like you've been paying enough attention to your dog, or whatever I don't really care.

Cancel whatever you have going on between 7:30 and 9:00 pm so that you can go to Town Hall and hear the bravest woman in Seattle talk to the Stranger's beloved Eli Sanders about his new book While the City Slept, and about how porous and unjust and ineffective this country's mental health and criminal justice systems are, and about what we might be able to do to help each other not die all the time. Forgive the dramatic flourish of the last clause in that last sentence. I just reread Eli's story about Hopper testifying on the stand and now I'm waiting for the world to start spinning again.
