WANTED: MUSIC EDITOR

The Portland Mercury is looking for a passionate MUSIC EDITOR to add to our amazing editorial staff, and to cover the music scene in one of the most creative, exciting cities in the country. COULD THAT BE YOU, OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW? Let’s find out:

The successful candidate will have strong/snappy writing skills, as well as a passion for and varied knowledge of the current music climate (both local and national). Editing/proofing/reporting/social media skills are a requirement, along with plenty of music criticism experience. Professionalism, enthusiasm, people skills, and a good sense of humor are a must.

Duties include managing and editing a staff of creative freelancers, producing great music criticism and reporting every week, going to tons of shows, writing occasional feature stories, and contributing to and assisting with other sections of the Portland Mercury. This is a FULL TIME position, with an extensive benefits package.
