They're not just opposed to abortion. They're opposed to most of the sex most people have most of the time: sex for pleasure. Right Wing Watch:

Dr. Monica Miller of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, one of the main organizers of this weekend’s protest rallies at Planned Parenthood clinics, said on Tuesday that even if Planned Parenthood were to stop performing abortions, she would still want to strip it of federal funding because it promotes a “corrupt view of human sexuality” including “sex for recreation, sex for mere pleasure.”

“Planned Parenthood from the top to the bottom is a corrupt organization,” Miller told Ave Maria Radio’s Teresa Tomeo, “corrupt in its view of the sanctity of human life and corrupt in its view of human sexuality. And I say even if Planned Parenthood didn’t perform one single abortion, just the mere fact that its sexual ethic is corrupted means right there, should be the reason right there, that they should not receive any federal money. The kind of sexual ethic that Planned Parenthood promotes is sex for recreation, sex for mere pleasure.”

This isn't news to those of us who pay attention to hypocritical anti-choice whackjobs like Dr. Monica Miller for a living. The exact same people who oppose abortion rights also oppose access to contraception—even though access to contraception is the single most effective way to prevent abortion. They pretend to be all about saving the babies but they're really about preventing the adults from having sex. They oppose gay marriage—they oppose the gay existence—for the exact same reason they oppose contraception: sex for "mere pleasure" is wrong and sex for "mere pleasure" is pretty much the only kind of sex gay people have. (Gays have been known indulge in opposite-sex sexing when they're making a baby, a mistake, or a statement.)

The sexphobic rightwing's anti-gay agenda is hard to miss—they oppose anti-discrimination laws that cover LGBT people (because people will stop being gay if they get discriminated against all the time), they oppose anti-bullying programs that address anti-LGBT bullying (because kids will stop being gay if they get they shit beat out of them all the time), they oppose same-sex marriage (because it "condones the gay lifestyle," aka "gay people having of gay sex")—but most straight people are blithely unaware of the sexphobic rightwing's anti-straight agenda. Sex for pleasure, which Dr. Miller and her crowd opposes, just so happens to be most of sex most of the straight people are having most of the time. Contraception and access to abortion allows straight people to have sex for pleasure without having to risk pregnancy or go through with an unwanted pregnancy, while also lowering their risk of acquiring sexually-transmitted infections.

I look forward to the day when all straight people—even those who use say they use contraception faithfully because they could never, ever have an abortion (contraception can fail, minds often change)—recognize that these anti-choice assholes pose a threat to their lives, loves, and pleasures too.
