The fifth annual Seattle Design Festival comprises two weeks of over 40 excellent workshops, performances, talks, parties, and more events celebrating the way design can contribute to a better world. All of those events are in one place on our Seattle Design Festival calendar.
If you haven't heard of it, here's Charles Mudede on why you should go:
"This might be the most important Seattle Design Festival ever, as it addresses one of the most important urban questions of our time: housing as a matter of equality. By intersecting social justice, urban planning, ecology, and capital, Design for Equity, this year's theme, transforms design into a moral issue.
For the most part, design is a matter of aesthetics. But bad design must be seen as design that leads to greater and greater economic inequality. A building is ugly when it is expensive. We need to learn to see things this way. We need to change our values. Do not miss this festival."
