Lindsay Hood, formerly of New York City, has lived in Seattle for five weeks.

You have probably noticed Lindsay Hood writing about music news up on Slog all the time lately. And recommending new things to listen to. And now you can read her review of the Sleater-Kinney show last night at the Showbox. And you're probably wondering who she is and what's up.

She's the former news editor of the music website Wondering Sound, she just moved to Seattle from New York City, and she's joined The Stranger's full-time staff as our music editor. She will help us build The Stranger's music-reporting muscles.

As for her musical taste, she is "an avowed poptimist" who "leans a bit harder on hip-hop than rock and roll." Part of her ongoing coverage of the city will be about her discovering the city, which a lot of people are doing right now and which us grizzled veterans sometimes forget to do.

Don't worry, Emily Nokes is not going far—yes, Tacocat is still going strong, and yes, Emily will still be in The Stranger and on Slog all the time. She will keep doing the High List every week, she will keep drawing hilarious comics about weed and Marilyn Manson, and she will still write about music. And hot tubs.

While eating a donut-shaped cake made in her honor, I asked Emily her about her immediate plans, Tacocat-related and otherwise, and she said:

After I spend approximately one week laying in the grass outside my apartment building, there will be shows to play, new songs to write, albums to record, and Mike’s Hard Lemonades to drink. Most importantly, I’ll also have the ability to say “YES!” to everything, even if it’s just to the pile of laundry that’s been in my closet for three months. Other than playing music, plus writing and drawing on a freelance basis, my other summer goals include going to Disneyland on acid (just kidding, police!), being a more present cat mother, and finally reenacting the Friends intro at the Cal Anderson fountain.

As for Emily's most memorable feature ever—the still-hilarious-after-all-these-years Men Who Rock—guess what? Emily and Kelly O are collaborating on Men Who Rock II right now. There is a man (who rocks) posing in Kelly O's photo studio as I type.

In the meantime, you can learn a little more about Lindsay over here. Or send her an email. We are so excited to have her.
