@1 got cut off, but the story is that a comic store clerk says she was told that a storage room was called the "rape room," and when she complained to the store owner, she was fired.

Do you know how hard it is to get regular olive oil in this town?

Not EVOO (extra virgin) which everyone thinks is "better" but is not for cooking, only dressing, but a big tin of regular olive oil.

I searched and searched and couldn't find anything.

Finally I tried Amazon, and I was able to find a few sources, and some of them Prime so I didn't have to pay $25 shipping.

So, I get 2-day shipping and tomorrow I'll see if it pans out, and if it does, I'll be an even bigger Amazon Fan!

IMHO the SLGFF trailer sucks.

The item about Nguyen in Shelf Awareness, though brief, was interesting. It sounds as though he's a genuine editor, not a maximizer of profit from vaguely book-shaped objects. Good luck to him!

@3: "extra virgin" means that it's not processed beyond simple mechanical pressing and filtration and has acidity below a certain level. It is FINE for cooking; in my opinion, there's nothing better for frying eggs with. "virgin" olive oil is similar, but doesn't have the acidity requirement. Apart from that, it's been chemically processed, usually meaning an extraction using something distasteful as an organic solvent, and is really only good for industrial use or as lamp oil. You're an idiot. Just buy the extra virgin stuff.

On a related note, I can't seem to find unfiltered bottled water anywhere in stores.
