I hope their new location shows off their gear in better ways. I stopped buying vinyl years ago, but I'd way rather buy studio monitors and MIDI controllers from Platinum than from Guitar Center or Amazon.

Those guys are great, one of the couple places I miss having moved off the Hill. I don't give a shit about vinyl, but they're super knowledgable and helpful both selling and fixing pro sound & lighting.

They might have sold more vinyl if they put any effort into curation. Platinum only had bargain bin crap when it came to house and techno. Good spot for gear though. As a vinyl head, as long as Wall of Sound is on the Hill, I'll be happy

Well, there goes the best way to see a single Block Party band without spending $40 or braving a throng of day-drunk dipshits.

Supposedly, Platinum's longstanding refusal to be within Block Party grounds was a major annual source of friction with the owners of certain adjacent businesses, including one that shares Platinum's building.

Can't help but wonder if that has anything to do with this lease termination. (Total speculation, of course.)

Wow, all the hate for vinyl. As one who started with only 45s and LPs and has used everything since, I liked Platinum for their knowledge and resources. Also they do repairs! Hoping they find a new home and fast.

How about the old Twilight Exit building on 22nd and Madison? That shit has been vacant for years.

truly sad to hear ignorant people comment about vinyl.. it's simply the best print of musical art you're gonna get--> but, yeah, who cares, huh ??

Please wait...
