I'm listening to Brill Bruisers, latest from The New Pornographers. Lots of 80s motifs...I think I even heard a bit of ELO in there, but quite smooth and consistently good all the way through.
Is 'Brill Bruisers' the New Pornographers' best record? Carl Newman thinks so
"I remember there was a Wilco record years ago where Jeff Tweedy had gone into rehab," he added. "He had some sort of breakdown and he went into rehab. So all of the press around this record is about like: 'He had a breakdown, he went into rehab.' I was thinking, 'What a great story. Why didn't I have a breakdown and go into rehab? That was genius, Tweedy, genius!'
I dislike the Fire concept immensely. Reason? Because it prevents me from getting access to Amazon content in the ways that I desire.
Case in point, there should absolutely be a Chromecast app by now for me to watch Prime Videos, part of the reason I subscribe. But can I watch episodes of "The Dome" on my TV by bringing up Amazon prime.
Same with the Kindle app for Android. It works, but it's missing all kinds of features that could easily be added, like full text search.
Because Bezos wants to be both the theater chain owner and the movie distributor, he isn't covering the range of devices his customers want to use. That's bad business, in my estimation.
