Keep defending the cops

It won't stop the Guillotines.

Ferguson realized they were already being killed for being black.

Leave people without an escape they will fight every time.

Riot Control 101

To call what has been occurring on the streets of Ferguson the past four nights a "protest" is a joke and defies all reality. Rioting and looting is what has been occurring, plain and simple. The heightened police presence/tactics is a DIRECT response to this violent, lawless activity. But the press and liberal politicians would have us believe the opposite is true. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

We all want to see justice served in the case of this unfortunate young man who lost his life. Everyone should wait for the facts to come out before passing judgment on the police or on Mr. Brown. What is occurring on the streets - besides opportunistic looting and vandalism - is an attempt at mob justice. Really sick of this shit.

I haven't seen so much illegal use of force by a police department, like ever. This is somewhere between the police riots at the '68 Chicago Democratic Convention and the National Guard loosing indiscriminate rifle fire on students at Kent State University.

I don't even know how you calibrate a response to the firing of tear gas grenades onto the private properties of a single-family housing subdivision. I mean, WHAT?!?

Someone needs to go to jail over this. Ferguson's chief needs to be fired, along with most of their police department, and whichever idiots are in charge of St. Louis County's PD. And take their damned war toys away.

Rand Paul: We Must Demilitarize the Police
"Anyone who thinks race does not skew the application of criminal justice in this country is just not paying close enough attention, Sen. Rand Paul writes for TIME, amid violence in Ferguson, Mo. over the police shooting death of Michael Brown." http://time.com/#3111474/rand-paul-fergu…

Re: 1, the U.S. is now having to destroy (bomb) weapons systems and vehicles left behind in Iraq that have fallen, or may fall, into the hands of ISIS/ISIL. What's good for the goose…

Seriously, the bigger picture is the unforeseen and "incalculable" costs of war. Maybe Johnson's bill should be expanded to include mandatory multipliers for defense-acquisition costs the next time the U.S. military wants to go adventuring.

@5

Holy hell, things are so screwed up that even Rand Paul is calling out cops for racism.

"And journalists must not be harassed or prevented from covering a story that needs to be told."

That line is a classic. I wonder what James Risen would say.

@5, thanks for the link. Saved in my "Stopped Clocks…" folder.

Start the clock. Obama surely believes that only some stories need be told.

The Ferguson Chief of Police has a Confederate flag displayed at home. And 50 of 53 officers in this 70% black town (how does that happen, hmm?) are white.

And, Rand Paul notwithstanding, most Americans are totally fine with black people being shot in the street for no reason.

What bullshit from Holder. Offering federal help when it is the feds that have been pushing the military equipment and advanced police surveillance equipment on the local police forces in the first place, and encouraging them to develop systems for using it. The problem is that these tools are the tools of an occupying army, and the police institutions and policies internalize the logic of the tools they are using or preparing themselves to use. So any underlying tension between the police and the population starts to become the tension that exists between an alien invading force and an occupied people.

I don't see Holder or Obama trying to walk any of that back.

What ugly decorating in that room. I always thought they had more taste than that in Martha's Vineyard.

Please wait...
