Is St Louis part of the South or Midwest? Either way, I've been convinced by many Sloggers over the years that these are pathetic areas of the United States, and it's best I not give a shit about them.

St. Loius is a crap town but its still a place in America where a child just barely a man was executed while unarmed by a coward wearing a badge. Grow a soul man.

I agree with @6. It sounds to me like the victim might have instigated the situation somewhat. Don't invite force, then complain if it doesn't stop where you want it to. STL is not some hotbed of racism. Alabama it is not.
Also, the burning down of a QT seems entirely unnecessary. I don't know if you have them in Seattle, but QT are excellent as far as convenient stores go. Good selection and always very clean and well stocked. The community just cut off it's nose to spite it's face right there, because I can't imagine they will rebuild.

Yes Please. Let's just continue to ignore Police Brutality and let the "facts" sort it out.

Yeah, it's like when the Black Bloc smashed American Apparel shops.

Hey, any of those protesters ever serve serious time? at all?

Even if the story is correct, and the kid started to physically struggle with police and even grabbed for a gun near the police cruiser...why was he shot 9 times 35 feet away from the police car?

That's the detail that seems to point towards brutality and unnecessary use of lethal force.

If he had been shot in the stomach right at the door of the cruiser because he tried to grab a gun...that would at least sound plausible. But the official story coupled with the 35ft distance from the cruiser (that figure also comes from the police) makes it sound like he was shot running away, or shot for no reason at all.

Nothing will change...until cops are held accountable for their actions instead of being perpetually protected from the consequences of their mistakes. I would like to be able to respect my law enforcers...but that takes honesty and accountability.

Please wait...
