Why are there so many prominent Republican medical doctors who seem to have minimal grasp of any kind of science?

2
It's a requirement. I think they wrote it into the national platform and everything.

1. Many of the most brilliant heart & brain surgeons know hardly anything about the rest of the body, health care services, health insurance, Medicare & Medicaid science and normal life. Two non-Republican examples neurosurgeon Sanjay Gupta and cardiologist Dr. Oz are among the national top 10 in their fields. Both regularly shill for snake oils and are totally ignorant about health policy. Gupta contradicts himself five times in every ebola segment on CNN

2. There is something creepy about the preponderance of extreme rightwing OB-GYNs in Republican politics. A medical board needs to investigate. Fraud, sexual abuse, or not providing required services? Women just don't like them?

@1 Money. Medicine in America is all about money, not health or science.

Ex: Former Sen. Bill Frist ($-TN) became majority leader despite only serving two terms in the Senate. How did such a novice get such a high post? The Frist family is the wealthiest family in Tennessee, money made profiteering on the suffering of the sick.

Reading the comments on this site is like reading a comic book. Suddenly a brain surgeon is not really a doctor because he doesn't practice dermatology. And if he's only a brain surgeon what else could he know and be competent enough to have an opinion about? To listen to the baby boomer financial advisors, the academia nuts, and the entrepreneurial geniuses on this site ( I think one of them has a recycling toilet paper business) you'd think that to be a leader of a country requires only those attributes that define you as a liberal...like wishy-washy on stupid international like genocide and government corruption scandals, or ideas like supporting the common good of the minority while screwing the majority, or arguing that "my rich people are better than your rich people because they agree with me." If what still has to be the majority of the legal population of the United states; intelligent, faithful and patriotic Americans, don't stand up and put down this uprising of ignorance, be it Colbert and his mindless audience, or Chris Matthews and Rev Ike's their mini-minions, I say we start splitting up the country, yes another civil war, only this time we do it civilly and not militarily. Just separate the liberals from the conservatives, people can relocate and re-register, they can choose sides, and then let each apply their political agenda to their own territory, one a liberal country and one a conservative country. I know we won't be allies, but maybe we can live in peace and whatever kind of prosperity and political system each country desires. I know, let's do a social network contest on naming the two new countries. That'll make the news.
