Surely the incredible thing about the cheetah is not just its peak speed, but its acceleration and its ability to change direction - both traits the Link rather lacks, especially the second one.
The cheetah in this case, obviously, represents a train. The gazelle's butt is about Marxism. And the empty white space they both occupy is a metaphor for interpersonal connection in the modern world.
I don't think the Gazelle is symbolizing cars at all. The Gazelle looks like the Cheetah's prey to me. Riders of the train are the Gazelle to the Cheetah - riders are prey to the train if they are not being safe (e.g. falling onto the tracks, not paying fare but instead pulling a gun, etc.). DUHHH.
Some assholes up above over there think they know everything....
Translation for those who struggle with metaphor: be safe, obey signals, because by the time you look up and see a train bearing down on you it's too late.
It's not a great sign, or a great metaphor. But it's hardly that difficult.
I think the obvious interpretation is that the gazelle is 'us', the unassuming person... the cheetah, the fast and largely silent train, which would maul us if we are not 'safe or smart'... i prefer to think of it though as gazelle being the stupid suburbanites and the cheetah being the progressive city folk.. haha.
Good Afternoon Charles,
My take is simple. The cheetah is the ST link train itself and the gazelle is the pedestrian. "Obey all signs & signals". Evidently, some pedestrians don't and are "snagged" hit by the train. It's a caution advert.
The gazelle is a Dodge Ram 1500 Big Horn that's just turned left onto the tracks while the driver is feeling around on the floor for his phone which he just dropped. If the train driver can catch him he wins a commemorative pin for his cap.

And yes, that is the worst sign ever. Sound transit clearly hires design school dropouts on the cheap.
Food truck?
