It's a pretty common argument against the death penalty. When the Supreme Court suspended capital punishment in 1972, that's one of the reasons they gave.

Any restriction on the government's claim of power to kill its people, specifically the poor, the weak and the discarded, is progress.

No democracy or system of true justice can flourish or long endure under a government that grants itself the power to kill the people and the exclusive oversight of that power, as is clearly evidenced in the contrivance of a feigned "fair and just" system of facilitating that power.

Being a pro-death penalty guy, I wholeheartedly agree that 25 years is far too long to kill a violent criminal.

There should be more, MANY more, executions. not less.

Child Rape? automatic execution
Murder? Automatic execution
violent rape? automatic execution
child molestation? automatic execution
political crookery? automatic execution

just to name a few.....
