Change the phrase. Domestic Violence = Femocide.

Why is this tragedy (obviously a tragedy) worthy of our attention?
What is your point besides "Guns Kill" and War on Women"?

Having lived in Spokane for 5 horrible years that I'd rather forget ever happened, I can honestly say I'm surprised this stuff doesn't happen more

this has been the most common firearm homicide since forever. hell, every third blues song is about killing a woman.

Apparently the couple had children. Do firearm-possessing partners ever think of the children before they go commit murder? Do they think "my will's been updated, and no, I don't expect our children to have lifetime trauma from this"? Do they ask the kids "are you going to be messed up forever after I kill your mother and then myself?"

Maybe these kinds of critters shouldn't be allowed guns? Or allowed to breed? I just don't get the "I carry a gun for reasons other than personal protection, any reason to show my power by snuffing someone else's life purely due to my individual vexation" mentality nor understand why it's so prevalent here.

Since you mentioned it, in the United States the most common type of mass killing is familicide, where the head of the household massacres his family.

The most common weapon of choice?

Gasoline.

But you won't hear that from the media... or the SLOG.

I encourage you to look into it.

Domestic violence is one of the most underreported crimes in the US. We do, although, read and hear about it if there is lethality as a result of DV. It is a shame there is not more done to make people aware of the daily domestic violence perpetrated primarily against women and children within the confines of their home. The physical and emotional trauma exerted against these victims is a lifelong battle from hell. From my perspective, any report of DV is one step closer to greater understanding by all.

I am contemptuously disgusted with the fact that women killed by people they live with is classified as some gourmet version of murder with its own special term. People, it is murder. It doesn't make her any less dead because she was killed by someone she knew. What the everloving fuck is that distinction even for, except to distinguish it in some way that allows certain jerks to care less about it. Fuuuuuck.

Please wait...
