David; Bar Del Corso is fantastic, a bit pricey, get the small plates / appetizers, always amazing! Travelers Thali House has a great little terrace and good food. And Jefferson Park: views from the south end of the park by the Lawn Bowling Club!!, Pacific Islander Cricket championship with food, food, food, brand new huge red sculpture at the north end, Beacon Mountain water park, Food Forest, and more. And at Columbian & Beacon there's Dim Sum House - bargain priced Dim Sum served HOT. And remember you're really close to Columbia City, Georgetown, and the Rainier Valley - do go to Rainier BBQ - Vietnamese food and feels like Saigon. It was the only place Anthony Bourdain filmed on his Layover. There's a reason. Just don't bug the fighting fish.

On south Beacon Hill go wander around the grounds of the Vietnamese Buddhist Temple if the gate's open. There's a Hmong Buddhist Monastery hidden away behind the Chinese Alliance Church - Orange! And nearby is the Chief Sealth trail. The north end has panoramic views of the Olympics and the south end looks to Mt. Rainier. The very south end finds one peering into homes with swimming pools.

There's more, enjoy exploring

@Schmader: wangle an invite to Catalina Vel-DuRay's Mid-Century Museum?

@Dan: detouring to Austria just for the Wiener Punschkrapfen?
3
rob!, I prefer the term "showcase"

Welcome to the neighborhood, David and Jake! You'll get used to being in the flight path soon.
4
Thanks Catalina! (Fun fact: one step of getting this place involved communicating with former Mr. Marianne dreamboat Mark Petrak!)
5
Good choice, David. As Marianne used to say, on many occasions, about Mr. Petrak: ohbabyohbabyohbaby......

@David Schmader~ It's not a trendy new restaurant, just a family-owned Mexican called "La Cabana" just north of the light rail station at 2532 Beacon Avenue South. I've been going there since the 1970s. Not everything is great, but try the #16 Pork Burritos and you'll be back. Welcome to the neighborhood!

@David Schmader ~ And at the far south end of Beacon Hill is the best kept secret: Kubota Garden.

Don't forget about Mutual Fish and Imperial Lanes. Remo Borrachini's is also quite nice. I like their frozen pizza dough.
9
Tippe & Drague at 3315 Beacon Ave is a great neighborhood pub with more than a dozen NW beers on tap, good food, and a very friendly staff. The outdoor patio is wonderful in the Summer too!

@KSea1 :Unfortunately, La Cabana closed a couple of months ago. :(

Please wait...
