Looks like someone had their "come to Jesus" moment, just not Mark...but then that ego of his is one helluva mountain to get up and over.

So long the lie has been loved that it has become your truth, Mark...and followers of Mark.
2
Oh darn. Poor Pastor Mark won't be able to maintain his lifestyle. So sad. Must have been all that money he spent buying his reviews and books and spots on the book lists.
3
You know who are as big as assholes as Mark Driscoll? His followers: past and present. They were nothing more than pieces of shit who enabled this monster and helped make Seattle a little more mean and a little less nice.

So your "apology" is rejected and refused.
4
Gotta go see if someone's made a "Downfall" video about Mars Hill having to scale back its real estate holdings and dealing with plagiarism and bribe-for-review allegations.
5
More "shenanigans" from Mr. Driscoll and his little band of bullies.

Matthew 19:24, "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

What's the annual total compensation for all of these 'elders', including Driscoll himself?

My husband & I as Christians attended several services in the
hopes of strengthening our faith and finding friends and belonging to a community
that would accept us. First off, Mark Driscoll preaches from Seattle, so if you're not
there you see his sermon on a large screen. Like that wasn't weird enough. Then they
have these things called redemption groups. My husband & I evidently had so many issues
(Bipolar, alcoholism, abortion, etc that they had the fucking nerve to tell us not to our face but
via email they couldn't find a group for us! Oh but we were welcome to come to the open
house where all the people who had "normal" problems would have a fucking meet and greet.
Are you fucking kidding me? I ripped them a new one in an email I sent them. Also, they had a mother's
day sermon. After the sermon, I approached the person who gave it ( who was cleansed of his pirn addiction by God supposedly) that next time he might want to consider including women who've had abortions because it's an unbelievably hard day for them too. Blank stare. My husband had to yank me out if there so I didn't rip him a new one. Oh BTW they perform exorcisms on people w/mental illnesses and state that you're in the same category as someone who's committed beastiality, among other things. I could go on and on. Questions? Happy to answer if I can. Will we go there again? Not a fucking chance in hell.

Who owns the property? Hmmm. check it.

I posted this twice sorry. That person who preached God cleansed him of his porn addiction supposedly.

That first paragraph would make more sense if you replaced the word "church" with "business".

"I’m not going to make an argument for Mars Hill being a cult, primarily because the word shuts down reasonable conversation, but I would say that if you’ve been part of Mars Hill or a church like it, you should read these warning signs that help identify if you are in a cult."

I'm not going to call it a cult, but you should consider if it's a cult.

flash! news story! no-way! ...a personality-driven 'christian' church movement turns out to be a weird, dysfunctional, money laundering scam fleecing young, vulnerable, and/or at-risk people. add some weird sex scandal or child abuse and you've got the Vatican!

I'm grateful for the people who have been a part of Mars Hill and who are now speaking out about it. It makes zero sense to blame these people, who were just looking for a spiritual community. It's easy to get sucked in to something like this, especially if it doesn't affect you personally...

Mars Hill is truly evil.

Too bad all this energy couldn't be directed toward climate change policy. That would be an excellent way to "save the earth".

#14 Bless you my child for you have hit the nail on the head.
19
I agree with #15 on all points.

In all believers, the Spirit has been given which testifies to the validity (both the humanity and deity of Christ). Christ came to earth to testify to the Truth (His Father)...that, through sin we are estranged, exiled, separated from the Father...Christ "...came to cast fire on the earth, and would that it were already kindled! I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how great is my distress until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to give peace on earth? No, I tell you, but rather division," (Luke 12:49-51). As believers, we stray from the message of the Gospel at our own peril, and we ourselves need to be reminded of Gospel implications daily. ANY work, any effort at all that we engage in that is not wholly centered on the message and purposes of the Gospel is wasted. Christ polarized our world, creating two camps...and the fact that so many church bodies become "split" is telling. There is the Gospel..and then there is everything else...

Where there is no wood the fire goes out. So where there is no talebearer the strife ceases.

Please wait...
