May I make one clarification to that article?

"the [Republican dominated] House has quietly stripped away the requirement"

In other words, the corporate party is doing what it can to keep us from knowing that it's owned by corporations. Fuckers.

Let it also be known. Here's the list of who's on the ethics committee. I haven't found any record of who voted which way though.

Republicans
K. Michael Conaway, Texas - Chairman
Charles W. Dent, Pennsylvania
Patrick Meehan, Pennsylvania
Trey Gowdy, South Carolina
Susan W. Brooks, Indiana

Democrats
Linda T. Sánchez, California - Ranking Member
Pedro R. Pierluisi, Puerto Rico
Michael E. Capuano, Massachusetts
Yvette D. Clarke, New York
Ted Deutch, Florida

but but but Dems are JUST AS BAD!

rather than thinking no one will care, it's more that the GOP is confident they've gerrymandered themselves a long-term grip on the house. they don't believe anyone has power to do anything to stop them.

and they don't.

There are corrupt Democrats on that committee as well:
House Ethics Committee Chairman Michael Conaway, R-Texas, did not return a call for comment; ranking member Linda Sanchez, D-Calif., referred questions to committee staff.
But Nancy Pelosi is on it:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Tuesday that the decision to stop requiring lawmakers to publish the free trips they take on their annual disclosure forms "must be reversed."

...Rep. Dave Loebsack, D-Iowa, said Tuesday that he will introduce a measure to reverse the rule upon the House's return from its July 4 recess.

John Roberts Court said it was fine in McCutcheon v. FEC. How could wining and dining be corrupt? You have to pay someone a specific amount in return for a specific favor. Everything else is just booze and hookers between chums.

Not sure if corruption becoming more blatant or if I'm just personally taking more notice.

Actually, no. Once upon a time we launched a military campaign in Iraq to protect the vice president's business interests there. Maybe we're becoming less corrupt. So hard to say!

@5: Go go potato! Fix dah rules!

@1 and @3, it appears @5 has clarified things.

Oh, also history.

Please wait...
