Awesome! I love dumb articles.
2
The only thing I found surprising about it is that it wasn't published in The Atlantic.

So let's leave it alone, 'cause we can't see eye to eye

There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy

There's only you and me and we just disagree

Ooh-hoo-hoo, oh-oh-ho

"Not kicking gays" is a pretty fucking low threshold.
5
we realize you assholes are impervious to The Truth, but....

The union of a man and a woman IS the most enduring human institution, honored and encouraged in all cultures and by every religious faith.

and marriage CANNOT be severed from its cultural, religious and natural roots without weakening the good influence of society.

plus,
don't forget that W did more to fight AIDS in Africa than any other human ever has.

assholes.
6
Well, come on now. The US government didn't stone any gays to death under Bush's watch, so he's totally a gay hero.
7
The most gay-friendly Republican president ever? Kind of like being the smartest contestant on "The Bachelorette."
8
Oh. My. Gawd. My. Head. Is. Going. To. Explode.
9
I agree with #7 -- "the most gay-friendly Republican president ever" could still be on the far, far side of "absolute lunatic homophobe." Kind of a low bar, indeed.
10
Now, now, it's true that George W. Bush was the most gay-friendly president since Thomas E. Dewey's administration. Certainly Bush's appointment of Madonna Louise Ciccone as National Security Advisor, during the run-up to Operation Saudi Freedom, paved the way for greater acceptance of TBGL personnel.

Now, THAT is re-writing history.
11
Look, just because he explicitly ran for president in 2004 on an anti-gay platform and by enflaming anti-gay sentiment doesn't mean he was an anti-gay president!!!
12
@5: Just FYI, in sub-Saharan Africa, AIDS is mostly a straight issue. Go ahead and continue with your previously-scheduled ignorant blustering.

"I believe that marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Now, for me as a Christian ... it is also a sacred union." -- Barack Hussein Obama's response in April 2008 during a presidential campaign forum

"I have been to this point unwilling to sign on to same-sex marriage primarily because of my understandings of the traditional definitions of marriage. But I also think you're right that attitudes evolve, including mine." -- Barack Hussein Obama's statement during an interview with bloggers on Oct. 27, 2010

Is it Trivia Night on Slog?

no one told us!

Bonus Question: according to the CDC what percentage of sexually active American homosexual men have HIV?

Bonus bonus: what percentage of them don't know it?
15
TRIPLE BONUS:

what are the rates of gonorrhea and syphilis among American homosexual men?

how have those rates changed over the past 20 years?

how do those rates compare to normal Americans' rates of infection?
16
My gaydar...not so good. But isn't George W. Bush gay? Or at least mostly gay? Are there straight male cheerleaders? And what about Jeff Gannon?
17
And what's strange is you spend all this time worrying about George Bush, and yet you bleat on in support of Hillary, who has yet to be declarative in support of gay marriage, and adore her oftentimes husband, who notably created DOMA.

(Cheney came-out supportive of state's initiatives towards gay marriage back in fucking 1994. Are you sure you should be supporting the Democrats?)
18
@17 Given the alternative, YES.

As for G.W. Bush, isn't he in a bath tube somewhere painting his feet? Nah don't think about him much any more. Now the complete mess he left us that's another story.

As for H. Clinton, yeah tired of that too, but looking at the alternatives, meh what are you going to do. Who knows maybe something better will come along, hope so, but it won't come from the Republican party, they are a complete train wreck.
19

And so it never occurred to you to vote for a 3rd party. Just the lesser of two douche.

Frankly, it doesn't get any scummier than Hillary 'Defender of Child Rapists", but that's your conscience to deal with. Just do us a favor and don't portray her as a defender of women's interests and protector of children.
20
@13 Yes, but there's something to be said for evolution on the issues. Obama has turned out to be a great ally.
21
@3: Wrong. George W Bush is the bad guy. The only people interested in "leaving it alone" are people like NOM, who have been losing this fight consistently for the last several years.

@13: I'm sorry, I can't hear anything over that dog whistle you keep using.

@19: Fail. This discussion has already been settled by the adults, though clearly you couldn't be bothered to show up to get any context.

For the record, Abraham Lincoln was the most gay-friendly Republican president ever.

Please wait...
