Wow, Amy Seimetz is like the Paker Posey of upsetting movies. In a good way.

It doesn't sound like it comes close to topping the Timo Tjahjanto segment in V/H/S 2. Although even there the found-footage stuff is not a convincing conceit. Too many times I found myself thinking, "Even the most dedicated cameraperson would be putting down the camera and running about now." Is that a problem in The Sacrament, too?

I do love cult-themed horror, though. I just found out about a movie called Holy Ghost People that was at SXSW last year (ripping off its title and milieu from the classic snake-handler documentary). Went straight to video, but it seems like it could be just what the Father ordered.

@ Love her, but I think she was a little miscast here. @2 Yes, although the "out" is that it's a Vice Guide documentary. But still, they just set the camera down at certain points, and have conversations in front of it. Too convenient.

After seeing it, I'm really curious about *why* it's structured as a Vice Guide documentary. I'd assumed they put up the money for it, but I see there's a disclaimer at the end of the film saying the movie does not reflect the opinions of Vice Magazine. I wonder if they originally put up money for it and then backed out, took their production credit off, because the Vice guys looked so lame? Or if Ti West thinks Vice is so awesome he just wanted to associate himself with them, like the embarrassing ending of the book Firestarter where Rolling Stone Magazine exposes all the evildoing to the world.
