From O'Toole's "todo" list:

"Fix an obvious omission in the SPD tool kit — the use of data to help guide and inform effective policing. The department needs to get into the late 20th century — at least — with its information technology. How can the skills, abilities and resources of the SPD be best applied?"

Yeah, awesome. Another Wifi leeching grid?

Someone's going to start selling a drone jammer if this keeps up, and those things are going to start falling from the sky.

@2 Outside of crashing into moving aircraft, causing drones to fall from the sky is a terrible idea.

It will in a shit ton of damage, significant amounts of harm to people, and both the FCC and the FAA competing to see who can get the operator/seller/creator of such devices the most jail time.

@2 Most of the models of quadcopters that I've researched (that's what we're discussing here, not drones) will automatically return to the takeoff point if communication is interupted. Additionally, they often use the 2.4 GHz wireless spectrum, along with lots of other stuff (heard of WiFi?), so any attempt at "jamming" will do more harm then the imaginary harm some model aircraft is causing.

Did Sawant like the other guy better, or did she just not like the woman for some by-the-book socialist reason?

Read Rachel Maddow's column in the Washington Post today.

Beyond the 60-day window afforded by the War Powers Act, Obama will need overt congressional authorization for additional troops to protect the U.S. Embassy and U.S. personnel, for the several hundred military “advisers” he has just announced, for air strikes by manned or unmanned planes or for any further military intervention.

Obama is plainly reluctant to send troops back at all, let alone to contemplate a larger-scale reengagement. But that doesn’t mean it’s his decision to make. Concerning Saigon in 1975, Ford thought that military reengagement was his decision, and Congress marched to the White House and reminded him that it was not. Concerning Baghdad in 2014, Congress seems determined to march in the other direction.
