An hopefully those of us who commute into the city on the 509 will have some alleviated traffic as well.

Let's have a write-up of the restaurants and bars newly accessible via this bridge.

Yep, there are bike lanes on the road shoulders. Sorta wish there was more than just paint, but there is a lane at least. Mockup pictures here: http://kingcounty.gov/transportation/Sou…

Since 5 can't bother to register and get a valid link, here is text from the faq on the bridge:
'The new bridge will meet current structural, seismic, and traffic standards. New bicycle lanes will be built on the roadway shoulders, and sidewalks will be separated from the roadway by a traffic rail.'

I imagine this was the link they wanted to post:

It's about fucking time! How long has this contractor milked this job!

All the politicians that shamelessly ignored the failing bridge for years will now take credit for running up the bill for replacement instead of repair. Remember Mike McGinn's proclamations about the bridge? It turns out the only thing his office every did for it was issues talking points. He did nothing, and I hope he isn't crass enough to show up either.

Please wait...
